I've never really played any 4X games other than Ascendancy (which I played a solid amount of, but nothing excessive), but I've been looking at Alpha Centauri because it looks super cool. But because of my lack of experience in the genre, I'm worried about if it would be a bad introduction to the style of game, and if I'd even know where to start. Thoughts. Odd question I know, but are there any philosophical books about how society should form or function that similar to the in game books. So idk if this belongs here, but i spent hours trying to find how to make SMAC run in a window or borderless. So i wanted to put this out there for people to find from a future google search. Also, its easy to find how to run the game in your native resolution, so ill go over that too. For SMAC run at native desktop resolution you simply change the ini file by adding "DirectDraw=0" to your alpha centauri.ini file.
